York Birth Doula Empowering Support

Now more than ever, having continuous support during pregnancy and birth can make all the difference. As your birth doula, I’m here to be in your corner — offering emotional support, advocating for your choices, helping you prepare for birth with 1-1 antenatal sessions, and walking with you through whatever path your labour takes. Whether things go to plan or take unexpected turns, you won’t be doing it alone.

I offer birth doula support in York and surrounding areas. This package is built around bespoke support that’s tailored to you, and includes:

  • 4 hours of antenatal sessions
We’ll cover whatever you need: birth preparation, debriefing any past experiences, understanding birth physiology and biomechanics, comfort measures, informed decision-making, and creating your personalised birth plan. These sessions are flexible and can include your partner if you wish. They may be spent talking things through over some cake or they might be more practical, a chance for us to practice different birth positions and comfort measures.  It’s important that we spend this time together to build our relationship and trust and to ensure everyone is on the same page with regards to your wishes. I take a holistic approach to birth prep and focus on empowering you through education, a listening ear and practical tips.

  • Ongoing support via phone and email
I’ll be available throughout your pregnancy to answer questions, talk things through, or just offer a listening ear. I will also signpost you to any information you want to ensure you’re making informed decisions throughout. Our contact usually increases as you get further along in your pregnancy.

  • 24/7 on-call period from 38 weeks until birth
I’ll be ready to join you whenever labour begins, and will stay with you throughout — whether your birth is quick, slow, smooth, or complicated. If you give birth before 38 weeks I will do my best to attend.

  • One 2-hour postnatal visit (within 2 weeks of birth)
A chance to check in, talk about how you’re feeling, and signpost any extra support you might need. The postnatal period can be beautiful but overwhelming and this check-in is a good chance for us to touch-base and see how you’re doing without any judgement.

  • A birth debrief session (8–12 weeks post-birth)
Judgement-free space to reflect on your birth experience, process any emotions, and explore what support might be helpful moving forward. If you feel ready to have this session prior to the eight week mark we absolutely can. The reason I say 8-12 weeks is that most people need that time to process things before they’re ready to talk.

  • Full access to my birth resource library
Includes printable birth and postnatal plan templates, position guides, and more. You will also get access to my library of books, including The Positive Breastfeeding Book, AIMs Guide books, Ina May’s Guide To Childbirth and lots more. I also bring my doula birth bag to your birth – think birth ball, TENs machine, wave comb, handheld fan, the whole lot! So you don’t need to worry about buying these things, you can use mine.

This is holistic, encouraging and continuity-focused support from someone who genuinely cares. I’m here to help you feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. You won’t have to face anything alone, I will be here for you.
