Poems For Women II

Be patient with yourself,

People do not heal overnight,

You wouldn’t expect that of broken bones,

So don’t expect that of your mind.

We are not shrinking,

They will not knead us into moulds,

Our bodies bend only for us,

Our minds are vast,

And they are just afraid of what will happen once we are set free.

- Women.

Not all beautiful things are full,

Look at the moon,

How she shines through the night,

How she swells and shrinks,

But is never afraid to take up space,

In a world that is always dark.

Honey,

One day,

You will look down at this body you have grown to call home,

And you will feel at peace.

To the woman who always has something to say,

And is never afraid to say it,

Thank you.

- In a world where we’re taught to be quiet you have shown me the power of my voice.
